Attack of the Gramma Groupies!!!

So Jewels had a couple of her Windam buddies visiting this weekend. I think they had quite a nice time. The weather was great and they managed to do a lot of shopping and sight seeing. Also got to spend time on the deck at one of the lakefront cantinas.

Friday nite they got to attend a concert staring some country/western "BABE" ... Trace Atkins. I think they called the show "Trace and the Gramma Groupies" or something like that. They had a great time and it was so much fun to host the girls.. Now if only Barb had been here it would have just been the cats ass!

We took the girls to Superior for supper last nite at the Anchor Bar... a finishing touch to a lovely weekend..

and of course, my little angels....

Was talking with Jill the other day and she told me our friends, Kim and Alex Lambrecht were in Courtenay and they planned a day at the beach if the weather was OK..

Well, it looks like the weather was just ducky judging from the pics Jill posted oh here Facebook page. I scooped a few of the ones I liked from her page to post here. ..

Looks like my little Rylie is not only walking now but doing some jogging with her dad on the beach as well. Shaya is up to her usual tricks, burying Alex in the Sand.

Jeez my grandkids are beautiful... I love them and miss them so much.. and you too Jill and Wayne...

Life is good!

Day two on the north shore of the Lake...

A lazy morning, slept in till 8ish and then had a leisurely breakfast before checking out of the hotel.

First stop was the Temperance River where we totally enjoyed the falls and the gorges along our hiking trail. The photos do not do this place justice. The area we were in was about half a mile from the lake but a billion or so years ago, the lake was 600 feet higher and would have been up to our knees. It was a bit scary for me cause I just don't do well with heights.

We finished with a short hike later in the day into Sugarloaf cove which turned out be just one more pleasant experience. We got home around 6PM and both of us really .. really hurt from all the climbing.

but d'accord... Life is Good!

A trip up the north shore of the Lake...

The weather has been beautiful and warm so Jewels and I decided to get away for a trip up the north shore of Lake Superior. We booked a hotel in Lutsen and then hit the road for some hiking and sight seeing. We started with the fantastic views of the Lake from Pallisades Head near Silver Bay. Then out past Grand Marais to the Brule River where we did a nice hike into Devils Kettle.

After this, we headed to our hotel for the nite, the Ludsen Lodge which has a great beach, fine dining, and a friendly bar.

Our trip to St Louis....

I had a business meeting scheduled for St Louis Monday of last week. Since neither of us has been there before and the flights were very expensive, Jewels and I decided to drive down to St Louis following the might Mississippi. We managed to turn a 11 hour trip into two days of travel and although the scenery was mostly very nice with the river and the hills and heritage, we didn't do much as the temps were running in the 100F + range. The air conditioner in the car kept us close to the vehicle and we limited our sight seeing from the windows of the Pontiac.

It was great to see some of the cities which were famous as birth places of some famous Americans. Ronald Regan in Dixon Illinois, Mark Twain in Hannibal Mo, and Ulysees Grant in Galeena Illinois where I took some pics of the old brick buildings in the down town area. It was also interesting to pass through Amish country in a couple of areas.

Oh.. and corn.. corn, corn CORN, Corn.. everywhere. And Jeezzz... the stuff was about 2 feet higher that the fat old guy that posed by the corn field.. great farm lands along the Mississippi.

Meetings went well, business is looking to be very busy this summer, and of course, Life is Good!

OUCH!!! July 26 and my first post for this month!

Well, lets start out with the Tall Ships weekend. An annual event in Duluth is the arrival of the tall ships. There were three here over the weekend sailing about the harbour but the weather was dull, overcast, and cold so it wasn't going to break attendance records. Me... well, it isn't such a big deal to me cause I'm just not a sailboat guy.. but it was nice to see them sail by our back deck. Photos didn't come out to clear but hey, I tried and life is good in spite of it all.
