more activities....
Well, we've had another busy morning...
Our daily activities and taking a good pattern. We are usually up around 7am. After Grandpa has his coffee we feed the indoor pets and the I get dressed around 8:30 and head out to the chicken coop to feed the bunnies, hens, and ducks.
After that is done, breakfast is made and served to her highness (Princess Shaya) and then we head out to the pool for a 45 minute soaking.
It's been sooooo much fun to see Shaya progress in the pool. On the first day she was so afraid of the water (it is about as high as her neck) that she basically clung to me the entire time. Over the past few days she is getting braver and better. She can swim on her stomach and float on her back, she is not afraid to submerge herself totally and loves to practice her "floating". By the end of this visit she will be beautifully buoyant.
She is not as keen on going out to the coop to feed and clean up around the birds. Apparently, it doesn't smell to good so she usually hangs out with the cat inside while Grandpa does the chores.
I'm pleasantly surprised that she is hanging in and not missing her family too much. She is fun to be with.. although it drains me cuz it is kind of constant attention..
We just got back from taking a walk with Rori.. now we're off to Port Renfrew for lunch and sight seeing .. it's a beautiful clear day..

Nice sunny day... back to China Beach...
Finally a nice sunny day.. Perfect to load up Rori Dawg and take a leisurely stroll on China Beach - my new favorite spot in the world...
Sun was shining.. eagles and ravens munching on a carcass... dolphin???? ... it was just a beautiful day.
Nothing exciting to report.. my little princess seems to be doing OK.. thought she would be tired of me by now but she seems content - as long as I keep feeding her chocolate of course.

China Beach Provincial Park...
About a 10 minute drive from our "home sit" in Jordan River is the China Beach Provincial Park.
This place has to be one of the prettiest places that I have ever been to. The hike in is through a rain forest with huge cedar trees everywhere. And when you get down to the beach it is a spetacular setting.
Shay and I had a great time here today. The sun was warm and the hike in and out from the beach was just great. We both had a wonderful day.

Some beach pics...
We stopped along the way to Sooke in a couple of areas... the first was the beach at Jordan River which is known for it's wave action and surfing. There was a guy out there board sailing - is that what they call it? - and a bit further down, we stopped in at French Beach which is a provincial park and a lovely beach there as well...
We're travelling to Port Renfrew tomorrow, weather permitting... shud be fun.

recharging the necessities....
The only chargers I have for my tablet and my cell phone are the ones that hook up to my vehicle system. Today both were "out of juice" so we decided to take a drive to Sooke and pick up a few things.. and at the same time see some scenery and charge the stuff.
Well, my little helper - who would never admit to being tired - looks like she needed a re-charge as well. Told me she was just going to rest her eyes for a bit and was sound asleep in 2 minutes..
She has been great to spend time with... always ALWAYS on the go..

Home Sitting at Jordan River.
Well, we arrived at Jordan River the other day. We spent a couple of days visiting the owners, Vicktor and Ildiko and getting to know their pets and what chores we need to do on a daily basis. We will be here a couple of weeks looking after their home while they enjoy the warmth and charm of a Costa Rican holiday.
Our daily ritual is feeding cats and dog twice daily, chickens, ducks, and rabbits get fed a whole bunch in the morning and then in the evening they get locked down for the night. There has been some "outsider" action around the hen house and this morning one of Vicktor's traps yielded a big fat rat that was trying to make the koop its home. We had a sad day yesterday when we found that a mink or similar got into the pheasant's coop and killed all four of those lovely birds.
Yesterday we drove the holidayers off to the airport and are now alone (just the two of us) for two weeks. Not sure if either Shaya or I will be able to put up with each other for that long but will be fun trying. As long as I cook her bacon and fresh eggs for breakie every day and go swimming in the indoor pool often, I think things will go smoothly.
This afternoon we take the dog for a long walk and then Shaya and I are going down to the surfing beach to check out the area.

changes in scenery... colors...
Heading out of Missoula the other day I heard forecasts of "precipitation" in the mountains... OK.. that means a bunch of snow so I took off early and found - in addition to a bunch of new snow - some very pretty scenes along the way. Through the last mountain range and into northern WA State.. one pic to show how the colors changed in a matter of a couple of hours...
From here I go and pick up Shaya at Courtenay. Then she and I are off on our adventure to home sit for a place on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Two weeks for my kiddo and me to bond and enjoy the rough beauty of the island.
