For Milwaukee Jill....

Jewels took a pic the other day in Campbell River BC that was "Milwaukee" related.. just a sign of some kind but it made us think of you and Josh.. then we were at an Eatalian restaurant the other nite and I was thoroughly enjoying some kind of dark Italian brew.. served is a Miller Lite glassof all things...

Well, being the Canadian bacon...ahhhh "Ham" that I am, I just had to get into the photo..

We were thinking of you guys as we enjoyed our brew and meal...

Life is Good!

Some photos from today.. and yesterday..??

A couple of pics from yesterday.. who would have thought that the old Dakota would get her photo taken on the beach with the waves of the Pacific pounding in the background.. she has been riding well and although we are really tired of driving, it's only our fault for going and seeing more and more..

and a photo of an old converted bathroom that housed "Eiriks Garage"... had to take a photo as no one.. NO ONE spells their name like our illustrious family..

finally, a few more pics along the way today... so nice.. Life is Good.

The Pacific Coastline-yummie nice and rugged.. like me!

I think we are both overwhelmed by the scenery we have taken in the past couple of days.. not only stupendously beautiful but it changes 4 or 5 times a day.. from wide open beaches to roads that are bordered on both sides by some of the pretties wild flower displays you could imagine..

We have had several nights of camping and are finally able to put the tent up without getting pissed at each other.. hey, 20+ days on the road and we still love each other.. (speaking for myself now!!)

The coastline has been beautiful.. but so overcast and misty that we have yet to see the blue sky version.. but this is pretty nice.. hey...

Life Is Good!

some pics from the ferry to Anacontes WA?????

We decided to hop a ferry out of Sidney BC that took us into the San Juan islands to Anacontes this afternoon out of Victoria.. a good choice as we were able to get onto the ferry fairly easily and enjoy the magnificent views enroute.. man, there are a LOT of $$$$$ invested in this area from the gazillion sailboats and mini schooners to the beautiful resort "cabins" along the island coasts... This is the are that Annie told Jewels about.. I think they had tried to fit this into their last trip to the area but didn't make it .. so very very nice...camping tonite at a State Park nearby... Life is great!!!

sitting in a bar in Seattle....

It's Thursday nite and we made it into Seattle today. Thought I had better upload some of the photos taken the past few days and try to make sense of them..

The first couple of pics here are taken in Courtney the morning we left. Jill and Wayne's neighbour has the most beautiful gardens and I took a picture of her purple misconthanherams and the white undistrusations.. In other words, I don't know what kind of plants they are but they sure are purdy...

Then, off to Victoria and some photos taken of the docks and harbour area.. what a beautiful city... catching the ferry this evening to Washington state passing the islands on the strait of Juan de Fuca... Life is Good!

And this one is for Annie!!

So Annie - your Mom and I have driven by this little house in a place called Union Bay several times and have noticed the front yard which is full of beautiful blue plants. We decided to stop today and take a peek at what this was and as Jewels guessed, it was full of lavender plants. The house was small and very quaint and the back yard was full of other types of plants.

Jewels asked me to take some pics as the house was for sale (across from the ocean as a bonus) and the grounds were soooo nice. We went into a little building at the rear of the property and your Mom started to laugh. Sitting on a shelf was a zip lock baggie (I thought it might be a hemp product) but Jewels said it was seeds for the lavender plants but the funny part was that it had the name, Anne Marie written on the label.

This is such a pretty place with so much to see.. life is Good!

Stopped at Qualicum Beach on the way to Courtney

Great beach.. one of the nicest on the island.. and lots of hot babes!!

Life is Fine!

Thursday - it must be Thetus Island.

We talked with my very great friend Fred Hunt when we were in Edmonton and he invited us out to his B+B on a tiny little island called Thetus (population 320). Access to Thetus is by ferry from a town called Chemanis which is very quaint and pretty with murals adorning a large number of the buildings in the down town area.

We caught the ferry over to Thetus at 330PM and it took about an hour (with one stop enroute) to get there. We didn't have too much trouble finding Fred and Donna's and I have to say, this one of the nicest spots I have seen yet. The pics on this page are mostly from the ferry across to the island. We had a wonderful visit with the Hunts and highly recommend this jewel of a place to anyone wishing to visit. We enjoyed a great BBQ dinner and ended the evening sitting in the hot tub overlooking the cove.

Up at 8 to a great breakfast and off to catch the 1030 ferry back to the main island. Sunny skies, temps around 26C... ahhh... Life is Good!

and over to Ucluelet - or something like that???

We went out to the beach beside our campground and strolled around in the mist. Interesting huge waves on this side and lots of surfer boys and girls in wet suits testing the waves. Still misty and overcast and was quite cool last nite for sleeping. Having said that, we went to bed at 9pm and didn't get up till 9 this morning. Something about this cool ocean air and the sound of the waves to put us to sleep.

We headed over to Ucluelet and hiked around to the main light house and saw some of the most rugged coastline that we have seen to date on this trip. Lots of huge rocks, trees bent into some weird shapes, and waves crashing onto the rocks. We have really enjoyed this area and I found a nice dark lager called Hermann's so of course, Life is Good!!!

Travel over to the west side of Vancouver Island

So, we left Courtney on Tuesday to visit the West side of the island. We travelled through a rain forest area where we took a stroll through some of the biggest trees around this area. Some are as much as 1000 years old and simply overwhelmingly huge. We then visited the town of Port Alberni which is somewhat industrial and not that nice of a place as far as tourism. After that, we had about 2 hours driving through some very rugged and beautiful country.. lots of mountains and lakes and some great roads.

We got to the west coast and immediately felt a much cooler temperature and everywhere was foggy and misty. We set up our tent in the Pacific Rim National Park and then proceeded off to Tofino. This is a very touristy place and after a bit of walking around the sky cleared and the sun came out. We then proceeded to find a very nice bar where we sat outside in the sun and looked over the ocean inlet enjoying the boats and float planes and as you can tell by Julie's pic here, we also enjoyed some sushi and something called vodka and tonic!!!

Life is Good n'est ce pas.

Visiting our Gang on the Island.

It has been so nice to visit my Kids on Vancouve Island. Julie has "connected" with her new 'Grand Daughter' and Shaya just loves to hang around with us. My new grand Daughter - Rylie - looks sooooo much like her dad..

Well, we wandered around town, went down to the docks in Comox, hung out at the house .. and spend a Wonderful time at the beach.. Julie, Shaya, Rylie.. Jill and Wayne.. Life is Good!!

Vancouver and our ferry to the Island

Well...here are the two world class athletes posing amongst the Olympic Rings in sunny Whistler BC. and a shot of an arriving BC Ferries ship arriving into Horseshoe Bay on our departure to Vancouver Island. OH.. the life of an Olympic athlete.. Life is Good!
