Tomorrow I head west again....
So, since I'll be away for some time.. not sure how long as it could be 2 weeks or 2 months depending on the business... I have been busy working in the back yard and getting various tasks done..
Well.. what have I done one might ask... start with the new sidewalk to the garden and the new fire pit which were done with Greg doing most of the heavy work.. then, I scraped and painted the trim on the garage.. dug up the other walkway off the back deck and put down some nice sod.. and today I finished the other side where I dug up the weeds and spread around the pea rock.. and the coup de gras was cutting the grass..
Hey.. the damn place looks great.. front and back with garden, flowers, and birds everywhere...
Tomorrow I'm off to Vancouver.. a nice drive for meetings starting on the 5th.. and I do have my golf clubs.... you know.. just in case I have time!

Today's very pleasant surprise...
So today, Jewels and I decided to do a hike at Two Harbours which is about 20 miles north of Duluth.. The hike is from a book we bought showing different treks in the region and is one that both of us has been avoiding because.. well, when you drive thru Two Harbours, it just isn't that appealing.
The hike was gorgeous... started out on the beautiful beach on the east side of town and followed the shore of Superior around to the light houses.. we were in awe of what we saw..
Lotsa pics... lotsa fun!
Part of the decision to take this hike was the added incentive that we noticed yesterday.. we saw that there was a Vietnamese restaurant downtown and the deal was we would take the hike and then reward ourselves with our favorite "bun" dish at the restaurant..
The hike was special, the food was great... Life is Good!

Play, Play, Play, Play...
Another play day for us today.. and the best game in town to play is a hike on one of our many beautiful trails in this area.
Today, we headed out to Gooseberry Falls to hike 2 of their wonderful trails out there. The water is much lower than last time we were here but the day was sunny and warm, the company was great, and the setting perfect. We did two of the four trails out there and got our exercise in and our souls at peace. Our paths took us up to the top end of the park along the river and then back down to Lake Superior.
You'll note that Julie's hiking gear now has changed from shorts to a skirt.. much more comfy, cooler on a hot day, and much easier to go to the biffy on the trail.
A wonderful day.. Life is Good.

work, work, work...
Greg and I spent a very constructive couple of days on the weekend re-doing the pathway from the rear of the house out to the garden. Then, Mr HyperActivity took on the fire pit and re-tooled that for an encore... the result, I have to admit, looks great. Our yard has changed a lot over the past 2 years with the help of Annie (the gardener) and Greg (the everything else!)... Thanks guys, it looks great!
Nice.. Life is Good!

Another good day for a hike...
Today we drove out to the end of Park Point and hiked the Minnesota Point trail. The day was supposed to be overcast and cool but it turned out to be sunny, warm, and wonderful.
The hike itself is about 2-3 miles and was a very interesting and quite a scenic stroll... it started out with a wide path along a chain link fence that was there to keep folks from strolling around on the airport out there... after a bit, we got into a lovely path through the forest.. followed by an open stretch covered with sand dunes...
At the turn around point which is the entry point for the ships going into the Superior Harbour we stopped and enjoyed our lunch... then we chose to follow the lakeshore back which took us into a huge area filled with driftwood, and finally into a ware little cove before joining the original trail back to the trailhead...
All in all.. a lovely day.

A great day for a hike today....
Hey... July 2nd. Happy Birthday to my special little grand daughter - Rylie is 4 years old today!
And Jewels and I celebrated her birthday by going on a lovely hike into Jay Cooke Park.. It was a beautiful day, the river was raging, and it just felt good to follow the Silver Creek Trail which is about 3.5 miles - part of it following the river.. part in a nice forested section.
Life is Good.. Happy Birthday Rylie.. I love YOU!
