US Thanksgiving in Milwaukee

We drove down to Milwaukee on Wednesday.  Interesting to see the holiday through the eyes of my American family. Second biggest holiday after Christmas and the official kick off of the holiday season. Christmas decorations everywhere.  We went out and picked out the Peterson Xmas tree last nite and will be decorating tomorrow morning.

A few pics from our turkey dinner Thursday night.  Poor little Isaac was feeling under the weather but has officially bounced back as of this morning.

Josh and Jill headed out to Madison WI today to watch the Bulldogs and the Badgers battle it out in college football.  We got to hang out with Jazzie and Isaac doing some crafts and having a good time at the park.

Visiting Manitoba. Finally presented with the Eirikson Cup.

Each year we have a fantasy hockey pool at play-off time where we pick our favourite hockey players and compete for the Eirikson Cup.  Last season ended with me kicking all my family's butt and this visit included our "formal presentation" of the storied Cup.

Presentation was done by last year's champ, mon grande Frere.  I had to pretend I was happy to take part in this presentation and I thought I did quite well.  The big guy, by the way, is my number 2 nephew Graham E.

It has been nice and warm, but the trees must know something. They look prepared for a cold winter.

We hiked the Western Waterfront Trail yesterday that follows the St Louis River. It was warm (+70F) considering it was November 6th  I love my greens of summer but the starkness and browns of fall come a close second.

The older, dead trees and branches stand out.. very stark and beautiful.

That's it.... Life is Good!

Shame on me. Always carry the camera!

Yesterday (Nov 1st) we took a walk on the boardwalk around Canal Park. It was a gorgeous day and we were in our shirtsleeves having a coffee outdoors at Amazing Grace. We walked over to the pier just in time to catch a huge laker leaving under the bridge.

My point... I missed some great photo ops and kicked myself several times for not carrying my camera.

Today.. a different story.. still a great and glorious day so we took a drive out to Jay Cooke State Park and did a wonderful 5km hike up along the St Louis River.  The water seemed low but it was still a wonderfully scenic stroll.  Oh yeah, and I brought the camera.

Ahhh.... +15C on the 2nd of November and out taking a walk with my hunnie...
