Visiting the Gang in Courtenay...

Well... I've been putting more miles on the last couple of weeks.  We had meetings for EZ Street in Vancouver last week and of course I had to combine a trip to the island to see my beautiful girls.

It's too bad in a way cause I missed the Mack Travel reunion on Saturday.  I understand it was a great party.  I'm glad everyone had a great time.  But.. but I must admit my choice will always be a visit to my girls when I have the chance.  It's a time that I totally cherish and the love I feel being with them is what grandparents dream about.

It's interesting.  the beautiful yellow flowers in the background is actually a very invasive weed called the Scottish Broom.  They are absolutely everywhere and you can see them for miles and miles along the highway.  So pretty but actually killing off all other forms of vegetation in it's path.  Kind of scarey when you see how many plants are out there now that they are in bloom.

Jesse flew into Comox today and will spend several days with us.  On Monday he and I will drive back east and I'll drop him in Edmonton on my way home.

Good times.. Life is indeed Good!

Mission accomplished... tomorrow I go home!

Photo number 2 from left to right.

Mrs Evelin Parra, Dr Enrique Parra, Martha (Reception), Daniela (Office Manager), and Freydel (Dental Assistant)

I was back in the chair briefly this morning.  Just to get fitted for a protective mouthpiece in case I decide to once again take up teeth grinding seriously in my sleep.  I have been quite a teeth grinder over the years which no doubt contributed to the state of my mouth which brought me here.

Dr Parra, his wife, and his staff were great to accommodate me with a few pictures.  It has been a long and grinding (teeheehee) week.  These people are so nice and such professionals.  I feel very lucky that in my search for an answer to my dental woes, I found this place.  I thank you Dr Parra and your wonderful staff for keeping me at ease over our time together and for my great new smile as well.

A few pics of the main downtown area in Liberia

I also took a stroll this afternoon downtown to the main square.  It is very Spanish with it's Basilica downtown with a large park adjacent to it.  Most towns that I have seen have this type of set up with the Passeo where there are gardens and trees and benches and the people congregate here just visiting and watching people pass by.

I have gone down here several nites and took a bench and just watched the locals interacting.  One windy night there was a lot of things falling out of the trees and it turns out it is a papaya tree and the fruit is ripe and ready to eat.

Of course the main intersection in town has a Burger King on one side and a McPoops on the other.  I guess there is no escaping it.  In fact, the McPoops appears to be one of the hot spots in the evening where the young folks like to hang out and eat.  So sad!

But you know, Life is still Good...

Pictures of the house I'm staying at in Liberia...

I thought I should take some photos of the place where I am staying in Liberia.  The house is in a gated community and is owned by my dentist, Dr Parra.  Originally he was going to charge me $25 per night to stay there but he told me the other day that he will not charge me and I can stay here for free.

It's a beautiful 3 bedroom home in a brand new development.  Lovely little swimming pool and my room has a great ensuite which is something I always appreciate.  There are 3 photos at the bottom of the pics above that show some of the homes in this area.

A lovely place and so nice to be able to just get up and make breakfast as well as a nice fridge to keep the beer cold.

Tomorrow I visit the dentist and get my new smile.

some pics from my last day at Langosta Beach

Yesterday was my last day at the Sueno Del Mar bed and breakfast which is a sweet little beachfront resort right on Langosta Beach.  I wandered around and took some photos of the place.  It has only 6 rooms and for most of my stay, I was the only one there (except for a couple of honeymooners who really didn't want to spend too much time chatting with the old guy from Canada.

I enjoyed my time there but I must admit that other that enjoying the waves and some of the... uhhhh ... scenery at the  beach it was a bit too quiet.

Took the Tamarindo Transfer back into Liberia yesterday.  It's kind of an exciting one hour trip back into town taking the tourist's buss down the narrow winding road with the competitive nature of the Spanish drivers who want to pass everyone along the way.

Lived to tell of it... Life is Good!
